How-To: Study

Knowing your study style is essential to having a successful school year. It may take time, and some trial and error, but it will greatly change how you view studying when it works and it's, wait for it, actually fun! Here are my Six Tips to ace your final, and your class of course.

Books You Need to Read Before College

Whether your an incoming college freshman, a busying high school senior, or an excited high school junior, anything that hints at the glorified life of college students is craved like comfort food. That craving is how I discovered the wonderful world of the college-prep section of Barnes & Noble. Here I found some amazing books that not only tell about what could happen in college, but also just general advice on friendships, family and being healthy.

Choosing the Right Internship

Internships are definitely a crucial part of acquiring almost any full time position after college.  No matter what your major, (business, science, education, social science, poly-sci, etc.) having an internship, or multiple, throughout your time in school could be the difference between getting that coveted position right out of college or ending up settling, or better yet, unemployed.

Leggings are a Girl's Best Friend

No matter how much you pride yourself on being “overdressed” all of the time, every girl has been saved, or swore by, leggings.  Leggings are a girls best friend because they keep you comfy while also being able to change with the occasion.

Study Tips & Tricks

Studying is very similar to organization: everybody has different methods. Some people swear by flashcards while others only use outlines. Finding what method works best for you requires a lot of trial and time. During each of my four years of high school I adopted a new method of studying until I eventually found what works for me.

Desk Organization

Having an organized desk space is not an exact science. Each person has different needs in a desk space and uses different tools at their desk. The first thing you have to do when you want to create an orderly desk space is to sit down and work at your desk. While you're doing that figure out what it is you actually use at your desk. Do you prefer pens or pencils? Loose paper or notebooks? Have you gone completely paperless or do you use a combination of both technology and paper?

The Carrie Diaries

Sex and the City on HBO always has been, and always will be my favorite show, so when I saw a prequel to the show in a bookstore over two years ago I had to buy it. Too bad I didn't start reading the book until I heard they were making a show out of it.
