Who ever said living in a dorm meant having to eat gross dining hall food? Well here at UMass I don't have to worry about the dining hall food being gross, but a nice home cooked meal every once in a while doesn't hurt. My roommate and I decided we wanted to cook dinner for us and some of our new friends and took the bus to target, duffle bags and all, to get the supplies. It cost about...

Surviving Your First Day of College... Classes

So you've moved in, unpacked, met friends, went out, explored and had a few days to just enjoy your new life in college; but then you realize tomorrow is your first day of class. Don't panic! Here are some tips on what to do before your first day of classes, and things you should and shouldn't bring with you to the first class:

Who is Changing the World? - Marie Claire

Marie Claire is hosting a contest for readers to decide who of three girls is changing the world. In my opinion all three contestants are very worthy.  You may have seen my post about The Smart Girls Group a while ago (if not read it here), well the Founder, Emily Raleigh, is one of the contestants. Move-In Day

Today I packed up my family's SUV with more stuff than I probably need and made my way to UMass Amherst! The day did not go as planned, especially since me and my roommate moved in at the exact same time, but it was an amazing experience none the less. Since the elevators get jammed when everyone's trying to move in at the same time, I had to move all of my stuff to the second floor by hand. Packing for College

Tomorrow I will be moving into my first college dorm room, so this past week has been nothing but packing. Throughout my week long excursion I've developed a set of techniques to ensure that no matter how much stuff you want to bring (cause let's be honest, we girls like to pack... a lot,) it will all fit in your car.

Saying Goodbye

Going to college is an exciting thing, probably the most exciting thing to happen to most 18 year olds out there, but it can also be hard for some people who have had a tight knit group of friends like I had. Goodbye's between friends are never true "good-bye's."

Busy Week Solutions

Boy has this been the busiest week of my life. With my move-in date for college, and the countdown to my last day of work, quickly approaching (August 29,) my days have been completely packed from beginning to end. The biggest downside of being so busy was that I got too busy to be able to post about how busy I've been!
