Last week during my spring break me and one of my best friends from home, Sarah, went to Newport for a night. We had gone a couple times in high school, but we had always gone in the summer. I was worried at first how it was going to be in the off-season since Newport is a beach town, but it was so fun!!
We spent the whole first day going to new restaurants, shopping, walking through the historic district, and driving through the mansions. It was so relaxing and fun catching up with her, and not having to be on a schedule. We did what we wanted, when we wanted and it was great!
We stayed at the Newport Harbor Hotel, for only $70! We always stay there so getting a room there for less than $100 was amazing. Our first stop was the Brick Alley Pub where we always get cheesy bacon fries and nachos (yea.. we're not healthy people). Then we went to some of our favorite Newport shops: Jack Wills, The Pink Pineapple, and Island Outfitters. If you love Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer and Jack Rogers, Island Outfitters will be your favorite spot in Newport.
Sarah and I ended up going to over 8 restaurants in our 2 day-one night stay. Food is our favorite part of vacation, and Newport has the best! We tried out a different Italian place for dinner the first night called Sardella's . We had a Meatball appetizer, shrimp scampi entrees and their ice-cream dessert called "The Heaven". It really was heaven. They even made me a custom hot chocolate since they were out of their usual ones.
If you haven't already been, definitely add off-season Newport to your list of places to travel. It was gorgeous, relaxing, and exactly what I needed this break.
xoxo
