Pressure. Pressure. Pressure.
Being a girl is hard. Growing up no one hands you an instruction manual on how to be a girl, you have to figure it out along the way, and it can get tough. There is so much pressure on girls no a days to be superwoman: Perfect hair, perfect bodies, excellent homemaker, business woman, mother, friend, confidant. You have to be smart, but not too smart. You have to be ambitious, but not too ambitious. You're expected to always look perfect, but shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to get ready int he morning.
This is a lot of pressure.
One of my favorite songs is Try, by Collie Caillat. The song has basically become my mantra whenever I start to feel all of the pressure of being a girl on top of normal everyday pressure. Listening to it gives me the confidence to go to class without make-up on. To wear an outfit I like rather than struggle to find an outfit that other people will like. I just feel more empowered and upbeat after listening to it!
Every girl needs to take a day for themselves. Take your make-up off, throw your hair in a bun, wear your glasses instead of contacts and rock your favorite cozy day outfit. Pamper yourself! I love face masks and CVS sells them for $2! If I'm feeling extra down I love putting on a cucumber face mask, eating a tub of ice cream and binge watching Netflix. And you know what? I always feel so much better after! Figure out what lifts your spirit and do it! What's stopping you?
It can be hard to escape the constant pressure from advertisings and friends, but taking a day to do what makes you happy can be an incredible mood lifter!
"Take your make-up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
'Cause I like you"
