Why I Stopped Blogging {+ What I've Been Doing}
I have been on a blog hiatus since early August, and a social media blackout since late December. I got to a point with my blog that I was creating the same content over and over: I felt uninspired and unmotivated. I had just celebrated my third year blogging, but had no real innovation to show for it.
Mid-August I moved into my house for senior year; It was here I decided to stop blogging until I knew exactly why I was blogging and until I had something new to say. It wasn't until the end of November that I started feeling like keeping up with my social media was taking too much away from everything (school, my social life, my creativity, etc.) and I decided to stop using my blogs social media too.
I had no idea how beneficial this time away from thinking about content would be for my creativity and my general well-being. I started to notice things I hadn't before when I was too busy photographing and blogging them. I realized how much I loved certain parts of campus I hadn't gotten to spend time in, and how much I really enjoyed sitting and focusing on homework. The most amazing feeling started to be when I come home at night and get to sit on the couch with my roommates after class; the little things became so much more important.
I thought during my break from blogging I would be able to stop thinking about it, stay off of my accounts, and take a real break, but it was always in the back of my head, and sometimes I couldn't help but peak. I finally feel like I'm in a place where I'm ready to start up again. I've finally secured my post-grad plans (talk about weight lifted), my classes are going well (fingers crossed they stay that way), and I feel like this blog can finally be more of me and less of the same things over and over.
During my break I've gotten the sweetest emails from people asking me when I'll be coming back, giving me suggestions of things to write to help with writers block and encouraging me to keep this going. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me! You are all beautiful and amazing people and I hope you like the new content that will be coming, and will enjoy seeing a closer look into my life.
xoxo
